Jack L. Nielsen obituary - Obituary provided by UtahTributes.com

Jack L. Nielsen

1923  -  2008

In the early morning hours of June 27, 2008, our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away in his home from the effects of Alzheimer's, surrounded by his family.

Born May 25, 1923 in Hyrum, Utah to Morris E. Nielsen and LaVeda Allen. Lived in Cache Valley where he farmed and raised sheep. In 1955 he moved to Bountiful, Utah where he learned to lay brick and the building trade.

He owned his own excavating business until he retired. His pride and joy was his family. He loved people and they loved him. He loved big parties at his home, he loved serving others and church callings. His favorite things were: fishing, hunting, gardening, eating ice cream, steaks, and popcorn, and he made the best homemade root beer.

Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sybil; sons, Lyle (Kathy), Bart, Eugene (Rebecca) and daughters Trudy (Jack) Brown, Pam (Rand) Brown, Jacque (Mark) Broderick, 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, brother, Darrell (Barbara) Nielsen, and sister Marge (Ramon) Purser. Jack was preceded in death by his mother and dad, brothers: Gerad, Edward, and Lennis; and sisters, Claris Jenson, Carol Larsen, Joan Muir and Mary Jean Muir.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at the Bountiful Utah East Stake Center located at 2200 S. 600 E., Bountiful. Friends and family may call at the Bountiful Utah East Stake Center from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 30th, and one hour prior to services Tuesday. Interment: Lakeview Memorial Park.
