Boyd Hugh Probst, 77, returned to his Heavenly Father June 28, 2008. Boyd was born November 20, 1930, to Nephi and Eliza Elizabeth Beck Probst. He grew up in Midway, Utah and graduated from Wasatch High School in 1949, served a Great Lakes LDS Mission, and served in the US Army. Boyd worked at Hill Air Force Base as a quality control specialist.
Boyd married Elena Graham August 30, 1956, in the Salt Lake Temple. They have five children. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church serving in various callings including counselor in three bishoprics and as an officiator in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Boyd had several hobbies and talents including rock hunting, jewelry making, and working with wood making beautiful furniture for his family and friends. He loved gardening, sharing the produce, and painting beautiful watercolor pictures. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Elena, and five children: Jayel (Phil) Hogan, Bruce (Dee Ann) Probst, Joy (Brent) Young, Jeanine (Reyn) Gallacher, Jennifer (Darren) Lueckler; Fifteen grandchildren: Veronica (Daniel) Dunn, Jamison (Brittney), Reily, Braden, and Jackson Probst; Michelle, Meagan, Brooklyn, and Brianne Young; Kelsey, Dallin, and Mike Gallacher, Emma, Collin, and Lauren Lueckler; great granddaughter, Jacie Dunn; also surviving are five brothers: Grant (Barbara), Emery (Marjorie), Evan (Dezzie), Kyle (Paula), and Paul (Joyce) Probst; Four sisters: Verle (Ken, deceased) Young, Faye (Hyrum) Bates, Geniel (Ed, deceased) Bartholomew, and Janice (Eddie) Hansen. Boyd is preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank Teri Blanscett and Micki McWilliams at Alpine Hospice for their kind and loving care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, 11:00 a.m. at the Bear River Ward Chapel, 5870 N. 4700 W., Bear River City, UT, with Bishop Jeff Jones officiating. Friends and family may call Wednesday, July 2, from 6-8 P.M. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 100 E., Tremonton, and Thursday from 9:30 - 10:40 A.M. at the church.
Interment will be at the Bear River City Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
