LaMar Sedgwick, 71, of Richfield, Utah, passed away peacefully June 30, 2008, at his home in Richfield, surrounded by his family. He was born September 13, 1936, in Bountiful, Utah, to Fred James and Dorothy Cora Rich Sedgwick. He married Sally Jo Jones on April 4, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on November 6, 1979.
LaMar was a member of the Jay-C’s and a volunteer for the senior citizens center. He was a member of the LDS church and held the office of High Priest, serving as secretary. He served an LDS mission at Cove Fort with his wife Sally and also served nine years at the family history center. LaMar worked for Utah Power and Light for 30 years as a journeyman lineman and dispatcher and after retiring from UP&L worked for Homestead Enterprises. He served three years in Germany in the United States Army. He loved to fish and hunt and was an avid golfer. LaMar enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, gardening and doing remolding work around his house. He was a helping hand to his family, friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife, Sally, Richfield; children, Stanley (Karen) Sedgwick, Richfield; Marlene (Glen) Bashore, Las Vegas, NV: Cindy (Barry) Sorenson, Aurora; Paula (Chad) Christensen, Tooele; JoEtta (Bill) Hales, Aurora; and Bryce (Kathryn) Sedgwick, Aurora; 25 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Lola) Sedgwick, West Valley; and sisters, Jeniene (Ronald) Dickinson, West Jordan; and Renae (Michael) Allsman, Hastings, NB.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Patrick Stratton
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 12 Noon in the Richfield 4th Ward Chapel, 200 North 400 West, Richfield. Friends may call at the ward chapel on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with Military Rites by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050.
